YES as a birthday cake #2 by like_the_grand_canyon |
Yesterday, we all had a surprise birthday party for Daniel over at the Hodges'
house, and his family was able to come up. We had burgers and hot dogs,Emily made a wonderful cake (half of my piece ended up on the floor), and a
good time was had by all! Blane Jr. took some pictures, you can see them here.
Today at church, the Mounts and the Blevins were able to come, and we
had a whole mess o' burgers and cake that were left over from the party.
(Y'all come agin now, y'hear?!)
Now, I thought I'd share some good resources that have really been a
benefit to me:
- ''Thoughts for Young Men'' by J.C. Ryle
book to address the many temptations and challenges of being a young
man in this anti-God, morally-ignorant world who seeks to follow Christ
and live by His word. It's been very beneficial to me, and I urge all those
whom it concerns to get a copy and read it! You can get it from Vision
- ''The Pineapple Story'' Series by Otto Koning
gave these talks to share valuable lessons God taught him deep in the
jungle, surrounded by head-hunting natives. He's really funny to listen
to, and he shows how God does mighty things when you rely fully
on Him. You can download the series in mp3 format here.
(You need to right-click on the audio player and select ''Save Video As...'')
- ''The Pilgrim's Progress'' by John Bunyan
Of course, I'm sure you all know this one. I've got it in audiobook
format on my iPod, and it really does illustrate very well the christian
walk, and how it's a pilgrimage on a dangerous road. What fools we
can be, seeking comfort and pleasure, while all around there is a battle
raging for the souls of mankind. (did anybody else feel that punch in
the stomach?)
- ''Biblical Manhood'' Series by Paul Washer
This series of three teachings essentially explains what it means to be
a man when so many boys are growing up into bigger boys with bigger
toys. B) It especially deals with how to be prepared for marriage.
Enjoy!
