The Bible is for YOU!

Uncle-sam-1280 by JongWoo Chung

Earlier this week, I tried putting my name in different Bible passages just to
see what it's all about, because I'd heard of it but never tried it.
And you know what? It really did make a difference, it made it, well, more
personal! (I really am going somewhere with this, so hang on!)

Take Proverbs 23:26, for instance:

''My son, give me your heart,
and let your eyes observe my ways.''

When read as-is, it's easy to kinda brush it off in my flesh.
But now, let's try it with the name:

        ''Nathan, give me your heart,
and let your eyes observe my ways.''

Jeepers, that gets my attention! All of a sudden, God is speaking to ME!
It gives me an amazing sense of how He is always there, watching what I do,
knowing all the thoughts and intentions of my heart, and holding me
personally accountable for all those. Praise God, He gave us a way
out of the ultimate punishment by sacrificing His only Son!
It also shows how loving God is, that He, the One who holds the entire
universe in the palm of His hands, would come down to my level and tell me
how to walk in His ways! Remember, we are NOT Ferraris! We're not
even an old rusting heap of metal, we're the mud under the heap.

''Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest
he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.'' - Psalm 2:11-12
