Yesterday, we all got to go with the Blevins to Cataloochee to see the elks bugling and
perhaps fighting (because it's mating season), though none fought while we were there.Anyway, We all had a great time just talking and watching the elks. Well, here's some
pictures...
We had plenty of food! |
Spencer and Hannah and I started throwing the frisbee around, but the elks were
getting too close, so one of the park rangers very nicely told us to, put very bluntly,
cease and desist. B) (If any park rangers are reading this blog, I mean no offense!)
This big guy was grouping together and defending his own group of cows, and
there was another, smaller bull that kept having to be chased away!
I love this picture! |
Young-uns having fun! |
This cow got away from the main group and came over pretty close, and then
went across the road to the creek.
We stayed there for about four hours, then it was about time to head home.
The Blevins decided to stay longer, and I think they had to leave when the park
rangers closed up the gates. (Once again, no anti-ranger remarks here!)
On our way out, there was a whole group of cows and a bull crossing the road:
Here's a video of the bull "bugling":
We really enjoyed going along with the Blevins family, it's always a treat!
