or so. There have been multiple articles in the Asheville Citizen-Times about it, and there is a great deal of
excitement about it, in part due to the fact that it was filmed in WNC, and just because it is exactly what today's
typical teenager (and adult, apparently) loves. I'm not going to attempt any kind of review or anything, but I do
want to to point you to an excellent review by Kevin Swanson and his daughter, Emily, on Generations Radio.
They went and saw the movie in the theater, and made a very compelling case as to why Christians should
avoid the movie. Mr. Swanson wrote a post about it on the Generations With Vision blog, along with a link to
the recording itself. Go and check it out here.
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
- Philippians 4:8
Well put, Nathan.
ReplyDeleteI did not think his case was compelling at all. I haven't seen the movie yet but I have read all three books in the series. I do not think they merit a warning for Christians to stay away. In fact, I wish more Christians would read and discuss current popular books with others. Of course, I draw lines at what I am willing to read and watch and I respect other people may have different lines.
